I’m new to Asana and have reached out to support, but they’ve said the integration I’m looking for isn’t currently supported. That seems surprising, as I can’t imagine others aren’t running into the same issue — or maybe I’m just missing something obvious!
Here’s the situation:
We have one portfolio per customer, and within each portfolio are projects specific to that customer. In each project, we’ve added a rule: When a task is created and assigned to an engineer (a user), it should be added to their Outlook calendar.
This works fine within an individual project.
The issue is when we duplicate a project or use it as part of a bundle/template — the rules don’t carry over. They either break or disappear, meaning we have to manually recreate the rules every time.
We’re working with hundreds of projects, so manually recreating these rules each time isn’t scalable.
Has anyone come across this before? Is there a workaround or something I’m missing?
Unfortunately Asana doesn’t currently support external rules (that is, rules where the action involves an external app like Outlook) in project templates or bundles, as you’ve discovered.
