Help Needed - Dashboards Won't Pull Custom Field Data from

Dear Asana Team and Asana Forum Members,

I am currently encountering a bug where I cannot extract custom field (function or fx field) data from my Reporting Menu Dashboard or the Portfolio Dashboard.

The strange part is that while I have more than one portfolio, one of my portfolios is able to extract the custom field data, but the other portfolio is not.

I really need help with this issue.

Below is a screenshot of my custom field (field name: Duration) and the dashboard from the functioning portfolio dashboard:

Below is a screenshot of my custom field (field name: Duration) and the dashboard from the non-functioning portfolio dashboard:

Note: When I click one of the lollipop bars for the non functioning portfolio dashboard, I can see the task list and see that they indeed contain the value for Duration custom field.

We need clarification on why one of our dashboards is not functioning like the other dashboard that works. Please assist us in resolving this issue.

Thank you.

Hello @fachri.anandito

Welcome to the community, I am sure you checked already, but can I just confirm then when you click to edit the lollipop chart for the non working portfolio, the timeframe of the chart matches the timeframe of the tasks that are completed?

Hi @Rashad_Issa,

Can you clarify what you mean by the “chart timeframe?” because when I open the “Edit Chart” option, I couldn’t find the option for the “chart timeframe”.

Thanks for the screenshot @fachri.anandito

You do not have to worry about it. I just wanted to make sure there are no additional filters added by error to the data set. And it is clear you do not

Dear @Rashad_Issa,

I see, I really hope we could get this fixed as soon as possible since we will track our KPI using this Asana settings. :smiling_face_with_tear:

One dashboard is calling for SUM of Duration and the other is calling for AVERAGE. Is that intentional? While I agree that either should work, maybe try changing them so both are the same - either sum or average - and see if that provides a clue?

Hi @Stephanie_J, Yes it is intentional since our team is trying to debug the problem. But until now we cannot find what is causing the problem since the data structure is definitely the same.

Weirdly enough, we are able to pull the number of task for the “supporting function” field.

But we are still not able to show the duration even though the data structure shows that the duration value is there.

You may also want to consider the solution of just rebuilding from scratch the dashboard that isn’t working. Who knows, could have been a back end hiccup somewhere when it was getting built. That might be a fast check.

Hi @Stephanie_J ,

Right, in the meantime I should try to rebuilt the dashboard. I will update the result here.

Thanks so much for the feedback.
