Hi all,
I create Asana quiz in the Japan community.
On the 12th day of the Japanese Asana Advent Calendar (countdown calendar), I posted quiz to wrap up 2024
There are ten (10) questions in total. I’m excited to see how many questions you can answer correctly!
Please select an option then click “︎See the answer” to see the answer and some additional information.
【Questions to look back on this year】
Question 1
By what percentage is Asana’s stock price higher today than it was a week ago?
*Comparing the closing price on December 5th and December 12th
- 1 - 66%
- 2 - 54%
- 3 - 42%
- 4 - 30%
See the answer
The correct answer is 2 - 54%.
That’s up from $15.46 to $23.83.
Asana went public in 2020. Its stock price rose sharply in 2021 before plummeting sharply due to the impact of the technology market and there was no positive news for a while, but it rose after the FY25 Q3 Earnings Call.
This is a timely quiz because I’m excited about the increase. I hope it will continue to grow so I want to make it a quiz every year.
Question 2
What is the fun way to learn how to use Asana, that originated in the Kansai (mid-western Japan) Asana community?
- 1 - Escape game
- 2 - Yoga classes
- 3 - Ramen shop exploration
- 4 - Showing off pets
See the answer
The correct answer is 3 - Ramen shop exploration.
The “ramen club” initiative was introduced in the Kansai Community as a friendly way to familiarize non-tech-savvy people. Mia quickly adopted the approach in her company and even created and published a project template.
Asanaで部活!?【ラーメン部プロジェクト🍜】テンプレート公開!
It’s the Japanese forum post that received the most likes in 2024.
The audience leaned forward more than at any other event I’ve ever seen.
Question 3
Which is the correct relationship between Asana projects and Asana teams?
- 1 - A project can only belong to one team, and can only be shared with one team
- 2 - A project can only belong to one team, and can be shared with multiple teams
- 3 - A project can belong to multiple teams, and can only be shared with one team
- 4 - A project can belong to multiple teams, and can be shared with multiple teams
See the answer
The correct answer is 2 - A project can only belong to one team, and can be shared with multiple teams.
We can now share projects with multiple teams.
The concept of Asana’s work graph (network), which enables “many-to-many” relationships, has finally been applied to projects.
However, currently, a project can only belong to one team when it is created.
If you have a concern about a project’s scope, there are now two places to check:
Question 4
What is the keyboard shortcut to apply the quote style to selected text?
- 1 - Tab + q
- 2 - Tab + 9
- 3 - Cmd/Ctrl + Shift + q
- 4 - Cmd/Ctrl + Shift + 9
See the answer
The correct answer is 4 - Cmd/Ctrl + Shift + 9.
Quote blocks and code blocks were introduced in Asana this year.
I waited for that for a long time!
The keyboard shortcut for the quote style is Cmd/Ctrl + Shift + 9 in popular tools.
It’s easy to remember since the shape of “9" resembles the letter “q” in “quote”!
The relevant keyboard shortcuts are as follows:
- Quick Add: Tab + q
- Numbered list: Cmd/Ctrl + Shift + 7
- Bullet points: Cmd/Ctrl + Shift + 8
- Quote: Cmd/Ctrl + Shift + 9
- Code block: Cmd/Ctrl + Shift + c
- Mono space: Cmd/Ctrl + Shift + m
You can use the Markdown syntax when you start a new line. You cannot use it to convert selected text though.
- Numbered list: Write
1.
or1)
at the beginning of the line- Bullet points: Write
-
or*
at the beginning of the line- Quote: Write
>
at the beginning of the line- Code block: Write ``` at the beginning of the line
- Mono space: Enclose with ` and `
【Multiple Choice Questions】
Question 5
Which of the following URLs will open Asana when accessed?
*Please answer before trying the links.
- 1 -
tasks.com
- 2 -
teambrain.com
- 3 -
workgraph.com
- 4 -
workmanagement.com
See the answer
The correct answer is 3 - workgraph.com.
I have taken the domain work-graph.jp.
I wanted to get workgraph.com or work-graph.com, but they were not available so I got the Japanese one.
Occasionally (about once every two years), I check out work-graph.com to see if it’s available by any chance.
I’m not sure when it happened, but it seems that workgraph.com was acquired by Asana and now it redirects to asana.com!
If you’re wondering, “What is Work Graph?”, check out this speech by Asana co-founder Justin Rosenstein.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wGlq3IbqUsA
I took the domain because I wanted to spread this video and the concept to Japanese audience.
Speaking of URLs that redirect to Asana, you can create a new task by visiting task.new.
Question 6
Who gets notified when an Asana task is deleted?
- 1 - Task assignee
- 2 - Task collaborators
- 3 - Project admins
- 4 - No one
See the answer
The correct answer is 4 - No one.
It’s a little scary, isn’t it?
To prevent accidental deletion, you can set the project’s access settings to commenter or viewer.
If a task is deleted by mistake, you can search for recently deleted tasks with “Advanced Search”.
Free plan users, who don’t have access to Advanced Search, can find them at this dedicated link:
https://app.asana.com/0/search?sort=project&predefined=DeletedItemsSearch
If you have an Enterprise+ plan, you can also check the audit log.
Question 7
How long do archived notifications stay in “Archived” tab in Inbox?
- 1 - For about 1 year
- 2 - For about 1 month
- 3 - For about 1 week
- 4 - Indefinitely
See the answer
The correct answer is 2 - For about 1 month.
The archived contents are retained for four weeks.
notifications older than 4 weeks are not archived when selecting [“Archive All”]. The archived inbox will clear itself after 4 weeks.
If I remember correctly, the messages were stored indefinitely when I started using Asana. However, it’s just a vague memory because I usually find old events by searching for the tasks or messages directly, and I rarely look back through my inbox archive.
Checking the web archive of the Asana Guide (equivalent to the current Asana Help Center), the lines were added between 2019 and 2020.
【True or False Questions】
Question 8
In My Tasks, you can delete all sections and use it in a flat structure.
- 1 - True
- 2 - False
See the answer
The correct answer is 2 - False.
We can use My Tasks in a flat structure by changing the “Group by” option. However, we can’t delete all sections.
My Tasks v2 was released in 2021.
You can now switch between lists and boards and customize your My Tasks sections, but you’ll still need to leave one section for adding tasks since Asana needs to display your My Tasks in Board view too.
The implementation of sections have also changed in My Tasks v2.
Sections used to be a type of task, but now they’re a new object type.
In subtasks, you can still see the behavior of “task-sections”.
In projects, even if it appears that you have deleted all sections, there is still an Untitled section internally.
Question 9
Tasks found through “Advanced Search” can be displayed in a calendar view.
- 1 - True
- 2 - False
See the answer
The correct answer is 1 - True.
You can select “Calendar” from the "View” menu.
If I remember correctly, there used to be a “List” tab and a “Calendar” tab at the top of the search result, but they are a little harder to find now.
You can display the tasks in the calendar view even if it’s in a project you don’t have permission to edit view, or it’s in a portfolio, which doesn’t have a built-in calendar tab.
Question 10
You can search for tasks with unsent comment using "Advanced Search”.
- 1 - True
- 2 - False
See the answer
The correct answer is 2 - False.
You can’t find them in the advanced search, but you can see them in the “Home” widget.
Last week, I created an article and a video introducing how I use Asana.
Later, I watched @Bastien_Siebman’s video and found that he was using the Home tab in exactly the same way.

That’s it for the quiz!
Next, I’ll show you how I held a quiz competition using Asana.
【Implementing a team quiz battle with Asana】
I held a team quiz competition as part of the cutting edge of workstyle digital transformation in 2024 event yesterday.
Some of the participants were just starting to use Asana, so I took the opportunity to hold a quiz to showcase Asana’s features.
Here are the slides I presented at the event
English version just for reference:
I repeated the following steps:
- Show the question and the Asana form QR code on the slide
- Get responses via Asana form
- Show the responses in the list view
- Reveal the correct answer
- The points have been calculated using rules and formulas
- Show the current scores and ranking on the dashboard view
There were a total of five questions: four multiple-choice questions and one approximation quiz.
We had to rank the teams to give prizes, so the final question was an approximation quiz. The closer you are to the correct answer, the higher your score is.
○ Custom fields
I have prepared these fields.
This is the screen I showed to the participants.
This is the screen where I checked the submissions.
I created a lot of custom fields and it became difficult to tell apart, and I found it useful to add prefixes to the names, such as “” for drop-down fields, “#” for number fields, and “fx” for formula fields.
The points of the final question were calculated in a formula field as 100 - (difference from correct answer)^2.
I actually wanted 100 - |difference from correct answer|, but I couldn’t think of a way to express absolute values in the formula field.
○ Forms
I created a form for each question, and I set the question indices automatically by associating each form with different rules.
Participants needed to select only the team number and the answer option.
○ Rules
The rule played three roles:
- Receive form submissions and fill in the question index number field
- Multiple-choice questions → Fill in the score number field if the correct answer option was selected in the single-select drop-down field
- Approximation quiz → Transfer the formula field result to a number custom field
○ Dashboard
I used a stacked bar chart and number charts.
Kudos to the Tokyo community organizer teammates who gave me feedback during the test play!
I also created a bookmarklet (well, ChatGPT created most of it) that can activate flying celebration creatures at any time, to liven up the results announcement.
Ten teams participated with various strategies and tactics, such as searching quickly within the time limit, but Team 8 won with a perfect playing from start to finish! Congratulations!
【Wrap-up】
Thank you for your time and patience today!
How many questions did you answer correctly?
It’d be great if you can share your impressions and thoughts in replies or on the social media. Please be careful not to disclose answers before others challenge the quizzes!
Had fun, interested, want to learn more about Asana? We welcome you to the Asana community.
