Instead of creating net-new task templates for every project template, having a team library of existing task templates for us to pull from would speed up our workflow when creating new projects or project templates. Asana already offers a team library of custom fields for projects, so why can’t the same feature be offered for task templates? The marketing team typically repeats similar types of collateral with the same exact steps for reviews and approvals, but we cannot pull from a library when a project has already been created. Right now, we have to go back to the original template, add or change the task template, and then relaunch the project again. Is there a workaround for this? Is anyone else having the same issue?
Do you use bundles? My marketing PMO uses bundles as our solution to this same problem.
We maintain a collection of task templates in a single bundle, and that bundle is applied to each relevant project template. Like you, it’s repeatable steps for collateral. Now every new project can pull from the same collection of task templates to launch familiar workflows.
The best part is this means there’s only one place to maintain these task templates, or workflows for various collateral. If our team changes the workflow for how we create an Instagram Reel, then my PMO updates the task template in the bundle, and now any time someone launches a new Instagram Reel deliverable, it follows the new workflow.
This has been such a lifesaver for my team that I wrote a LinkedIn post about it to share with others.
We don’t have an Enterprise-level account to be able to access this feature, but it’s great to know this is an option if we upgrade. Thank you for replying!
