External Trigger to Slack not working

I’m trying to set external trigger in rule to send a Slack message. However, I’m unable to find the option in the rule. Slack is added as an App to my project already.

please ensure Slack is added to the Asana app and Asana is an app in the given Slack channel(s). Within rules it is found under the “external actions” tab when engaged in the “do this” box

@Ramesh8 Welcome back to the Forum.

@Adam_Koenig1 is correct, the add ons need to be added to Asana and Slack.

I’m a bit confused by your statement. Are you trying to trigger a rule when something occurs in Asana to send a Slack message? Or are you wanting to send something to Asana when someone adds a comment in Slack?

If the first scenario, then @Adam_Koenig1’s solution is correct. If you are trying to go from Slack to Asana that will be a different workflow.

I was trying to create a rule - When we receive an intake from a specific form, the rule has to check a condition and should send a message (external) via Slack to a specific user in our Org. Yesterday, I was trying to find Asana specific function “Send direct message” under the ‘Do this’ in the rule. However, I was unable to find it, even though I had the app added to the project already. I have been created such custom rules with several projects for more than a year. But it appears that there was a glitch/bug that didn’t show the option.

Now, I tried to find it after logging in today. And I found the option to be available now. I was able to create the rule successfully. Thanks!

@Ramesh8 Glad to hear it all worked out!

@Adam_Koenig1 - Is there an option to file a feature request? It’s regarding the permission level in the universal Reporting dashboard. At this moment, we can only have one user as Dashboard Admin, all others are Viewers. It is not useful for a team with multiple POCs due to different timezones and work models. Can we have the Dashboard Admin permission to be provided to multiple users?

@ramesh8 Amazon has a project where we collect and upvote (similar to SIM’s +1) feature feedbacks! Specifically, you are looking at this request which I can confirm has been submitted as a VOC on our end

@Ramesh8, Please search in English Forum > Product Feedback to see if your request exists and if so, you can click the title to scroll to the top and vote by clicking the Vote button. Otherwise, create a new topic in that category, and also Vote!

Thanks,

Larry
