At the end of the year everyone loves the satisfaction of marking tasks complete and archiving projects. Here are my tips for a personal Asana reset!
Start with a clean slate - achieve Inbox Zero
Block time to review your entire Asana Inbox with the goal to empty it! For every notification either read and archive the notification, or convert into an actionable task and archive the inbox notification. Remember, you can always leave a task or project if it’s no longer relevant to you - or update your notification settings! With this approach you’ll be at Inbox Zero in no time.
Organize your sidebar with portfolios
By the end of the year our Asana sidebar can get cluttered with projects recently added as a favourite (using the ‘star’ icon). Now is a great time to review your side bar. Start by reviewing the existing portfolios in your sidebar, and add new ones if needed. Add individual projects to portfolios, or change portfolio colors and customize your sidebar!
Review your overdue tasks
Time to jump into My tasks to take a look at your overdue tasks and set realistic due dates. You can see your overdue tasks with simple filtering - set the due date to ‘before today’. Review each of your tasks and set a realistic due date. While you’re in My tasks, get inspired to create rules and automations in My task to stay organized!
Supercharge your insights with Asana AI
Do you have access to Asana AI? Here’s some ways Asana AI can support your end of year clean-up - simply navigate to your Home screen and the Asana AI widget and try these example prompts:
- Of the Asana projects that I am part of, which have not had a status update for 6 months or more?
- Are there any tasks assigned to me with the due date changed 5 or more times and are still incomplete?
- Can you generate a list of tasks I’ve assigned to others where the due date has changed 5 or more times and are still incomplete?
