I have the Asana desktop app installed (on Windows 11).
When I get an email notification and click the link in it, I am taken to the browser version of Asana instead of my desktop app. I found some suggestions in the forum to check the settings in the browser version and flip the switch to open links in the desktop app there.
However, when I open the browser version of the settings it doesn’t seem to know that the desktop app was installed at all, and offers me a “Download” option instead.
Steps I do:
I open the Desktop app
I go to Settings > Apps
In the Asana desktop app section I click the link “Change settings in browser”
Hello @Siska2 and thank you for your feedback. This is a known behavior with the Asana desktop app. The browser settings won’t recognize your desktop app installation until you log in to the Asana Desktop app first. The desktop app relies on browser cookies to maintain the connection between your browser and the desktop application. If you’ve recently cleared your browser cookies or haven’t logged into the desktop app yet, the browser won’t detect it.
You can try these steps to fix it:
Open your Asana Desktop app on Windows 11
Log in to your Asana account
Once logged in, the app link option will appear in your browser settings (Settings > Apps tab)
If you read the steps I took in my post you would know that I am logged in in the Desktop app, because I open the browser from there. My tasks are also synced between the browser version and the desktop version, so my account is correctly linked. Despite that the toggle to open links in the desktop app is not visible.
I anyone has any other suggestions, please let me know.
