deactivation of my account notice

I got a message that you intend to deactivate my account because I have not logged into my personal account in 2 years. I use Asana almost daily but for my company, which is part of my Asana account. If you disable my account, you will be created a great deal of disruption to my business. There is no way to respond to your email so I am reaching out through this forum.

Hi @Ruth22,

Welcome to the Asana Forum! For security reasons, I’ve edited your comment to remove your personal details.

It sounds like you’ve received a message from our team about your “personal projects” space. These are legacy spaces in Asana where users could create and manage personal tasks outside of their regular organizations and workspaces.

If you received this message, it means your “personal projects” space has been inactive for a long time. To keep it active, here’s what you need to do:

  1. Access your “personal projects” space: Click your profile picture in Asana > Select “Personal Projects” from the drop-down menu.
  2. Create a new task: Add any task with any subject in your “personal projects” space. This action will register your intent to maintain the space.

Please note that “personal projects” is entirely separate from your other organizations and workspaces. If you choose not to keep it active, its deactivation will not impact your Asana account or your access to other spaces.

I hope this helps clarify things, but if you still need assistance, please reach out to our Support team by following these steps.

Personal projects are not in my drop-down list

Hi, I also received this notification. Is there a benefit to keeping the personal space? Eg if you were to leave your company you could keep your personal space? Is there a cost?

Hi @Michael_Shadel and @Rebecca_Runcie , thanks for following up. Personal projects" is a legacy feature from many years ago, available to only a small number of Asana users. It’s completely free but has significant limitations.

While you can continue using any existing “personal projects” space, please note that it is no longer supported by our Development team, and its features are quite limited. For example, it cannot be upgraded, nor does it support many of the features available in workspaces.

We strongly recommend transitioning your personal work to a workspace instead. You can create a workspace by following these instructions. Workspaces can be used on the free version, with up to 10 members, but can also be upgraded to one of our paid tiers.

If you’d like to move your data from “personal projects” to a workspace, you can use the third-party tool Ditto. Although this tool is not developed or supported by Asana, many users have successfully used it without issues.

I hope this helps!
