Custom Search: How to use a field more than once?

Is there a way to specify multiple value for a field in Custom Search?

E.g. #1 - search for tasks whose “Task Progress” field is:
NOT “Done” AND NOT “Deferred”

E.g. #2 - Tasks whose “Task Progress” field is:
“Waiting” OR “On Hold”
