Creating due dates from durations (in days)

Hi all–first time poster here. I am a new Asana user, having recently switched over from MS Project. My project plans have thousands of tasks and multiple workstreams. I am accustomed to creating due dates from number of days–that way, my stakeholders can see how much time needs to be shaved from their ideal durations to meet launch dates. I haven’t figured out a way to do that in Asana. Is this a possibility? When I meet with groups, I add number of days to tasks and the due date populates automatically. I want to avoid manually clicking on the calendar in meetings to establish dates.

This seems achievable with custom fields and rules.

See the related thread.

Hi @Kristin_Harpster , are you on a paid plan so you can use the Gantt view? If so, you can go to Options in the top right, Show/hide columns and enable the Duration column.

Hi Kristin,

I understand that you are used to the MS Project duration concept, where you enter the task duration and the due dates are automatically calculated based on the predecessor.

This is actually not a native feature in Asana. However, it can be achieved in the following two ways:

1.Through Flowasana (works with Advanced, Enterprise, and Enterprise+ Asana plans- very easy)

2.Through Scripts (available in Enterprise and Enterprise+ plans only but little bit complex )

Please let me know if you would like to learn more about Flowasana. I would be happy to explain the steps clearly.
