Briefly describe (1-2 sentences) the Bug you’re experiencing:
Our team needs to convert subtasks in one main task into subtasks of another main task - but the key here is that the subtasks need to remain in the original main task as well as be added to the new task. We had a workaround to do this: add subtask to a new project - then convert the subtask in that project to a subtask of a main task in a different project. This is no longer working.
Steps to reproduce: Go to Subtask A in Project A. Add Subtask A to Project B (also leave in Project A). Go to Project B and open Subtask A. Convert Subtask A to be a subtask of a new task in Project C.
When it worked, Subtask A would be converted correctly into a subtask in Project C, AND would remain in it’s original subtask location in Project A. But it would be removed from Project B. Now it is being removed from Project B and Project A - and only converting to Project C.

What version of Asana are you using (Basic/Premium/Business/Enterprise)? Premium
I am seeing the same issues, it removes the subtask from the original project and I have to go back and add it to the project once the subtask has been converted.
Yes they changed the flow indeed, it has been a couple of weeks I believe. Not sure this is bug, this is probably expected behaviour. Calling out the subtask hero @lpb for help
Hi @Vanessa_Johnson3, unfortunately our Developers don’t have an ETA to share yet, but they have acknowledged this escalation and will work on a solution. As soon as they have any news, we will be informed so we can share here in the Forum. Sorry about that!
Hi everyone, this is just a quick note to let you know we updated this behaviour so going forward when when a task is converted to subtask, the subtask keeps the project association
