Convert Task to Project Rule Stopped Working

Hi everyone,

My team has a setup where certain tasks that are entered in by a form will trigger a rule to convert that task to a project based on custom field choices. This feature has stopped functioning correctly. The templates are only half loading, project members are not being added, project creation failure notices have been received, and the task itself is not being labeled as [Converted to project].

I have checked the rule itself and it has not been changed. This is a rule that has been in place for almost a year now without any issues.

I am wondering if anyone is experiencing the same issue and/or if someone has come up with a solution to fix this issue. This rule is very crucial for my team.

Thanks

@Ajkosmo34,

I haven’t heard of other reports, at least so far.

Try these troubleshooting steps, then please create a support ticket: see How to contact our Support Team.

Thanks,

Hi Larry,

Thank you for your reply.

I took some time to create a separate development team to test out my rules, forms, and templates. After much trial and error, the problem turned out to be the templates. I utilized the template’s “add member to associated project” feature to allow my whole team the ability to view each others projects. The 18 users that were listed were causing an error that would not allow the project to load completely for several hours.

I then discovered that you can now add project members automatically by entering the user name or team name directly in the rule. I removed all users from each of our templates, except for one as an automatic project admin. I entered my team name into the rule instead. Now the project loads as quick as it did before.

Hopefully this info can help someone else who uses a similar process. I appreciate your help.

Thanks

Thanks, @Ajkosmo34, and well done getting up and running and I’m glad to hear that.

But this sounds like a bug. It would be wonderful if you could report to Support as mentioned, including URLs to the template and projects involved, so Support can verify and perhaps escalate to fix any underlying root cause.

Thanks,

Larry
