Can't remove a task from a Project (Rule bug)

I’m writing a rule that adds subtasks. It’s a rule that adds about 5 subtasks, all with various custom field values and multi-homing.

I get to the very last subtask in this rule, and accidentally add it to the wrong project. I cannot remove it from this project, there is no X for some reason. This is the project that the rule lives in, but it’s still frustrating that the X is gone.

I originally thought the X was missing because the project name was long, so I shortened the project name to just a few letters temporarily and that didn’t change anything. I cannot find any way to remove this subtask from that project.

If I add it to any other project, the X is there by that project.

Hi @Matt5,

I’ve moved this out of product feedback as it is not a feature request, I hope you don’t mind!

Are you experiencing this in the desktop app or in a browser? I’m not able to recreate the issue, but you may want to reload your instance of Asana and/or clear your cache if you’re using a browser.

Best,

Jeremy

Jeremy, whichever forum is most appropriate and could get some traction

This is happening on Windows, Chrome browser.

If you’re trying to recreate it, be sure the project you add it to “accidentally” is the same project you are writing the rule in. It seems like this was the trigger of the issue, because adding it to any other project gave me the X button.

I had to scrap the whole rule yesterday (it was near end of day) and I’ll have to re-create the whole rule today.

What permissions do you have on this project? Probably not the reason, but worth checking

Hi @Matt5

Couple of questions:

  1. If you try to add the subtask to another project, will you get the ability to remove the first project?
  2. Is the rule built entirely by you, or has someone else built it?
  3. Does the rule have an external connecter - like outlook email automatic response?

The above is just to understand if this is a bug or something in the set up of the rule.

I see you have already aborted and built a rule from scratch. If that is not the case, maybe delete the last subtask from the 5 automatic created and recreate that last subtask again as part of the rule.
