I cannot add an external user to our workspace, even on a project level. It is throwing an error message saying, “Cannot add a user.” Contact support." We are on an Advanced trial plan.

In free plans or spaces on free trials, there’s a 100-guest invite limit to prevent spam. This includes not only active guests but also old pending invites and duplicate invites to the same guest.
I recommend contacting our Support team, regardless of whether this applies to your situation. They can investigate further, confirm if the invites are being delivered, and potentially reset the limit if needed.
When you reach out, it’s helpful to include a few examples of the email addresses you’re unable to invite, as this will assist the Support team in identifying the issue.
