I want to automate a notification whenever one of the columns in my project reaches a specific number of tasks. Would that be possible in Asana?

That’s not possible in native Asana though might be with a third-party solution.
Natively, you could have a number chart for each section in the project dashboard to tally the number of tasks, but no notification would be issued.
