Hi!
Thanks for the updates!!

I have a question related to * (Enterprise) Custom field permissions on mobile.
Where can I find the control button in the mobile app?

Hi @Robin28, thanks for asking. Happy to share more context about this launch. :slightly_smiling_face:

The settings where project admins set restrictions for custom fields are still only available on the web and desktop app, but not on mobile yet. However, before this update, users with restricted access could still edit fields when using the mobile app, which worked as a sort of backdoor.

This update specifically addresses that issue. Now, users with restricted permissions will have the same restrictions on both mobile and web.

Hope this helps clarify!

Aha! I understand. Thansk for the clarification, @Vanessa_N !

I’d also like to ask regarding “SAML group mapping”.
I have the following questions;

  • What is the need for this feature and what context is it coming from?
  • In which specific scenarios would this feature be used
  • It’s already possible to assign licenses to group via Entra Id. How does this feature differ from that?

Let me make a few clarifications addressing each of your questions. @Robin28

Let’s begin by clearly defining SAML group mapping.

WHAT IS SAML GROUP MAPPING?

SAML (Security Assertion Markup Language) group mapping is a feature that enables the mapping of groups defined in an external identity provider (IdP) to groups within an application or service. This allows for seamless integration of user identities and group memberships between the IdP and the application.

  1. The need for SAML group mapping arises from the increasing adoption of cloud-based applications and services, which often require integration with external identity providers. This feature enables organizations to leverage their existing group structures and policies, defined in their IdP, and apply them to cloud-based applications.
  1. This feature would be used in scenarios such as:

A). CLOUD MIGRATION: When an organization migrates its applications to the cloud, SAML group mapping ensures that existing group structures and policies are preserved.

B). IDENTITY FEDERATION: When multiple organizations need to share resources or collaborate, SAML group mapping enables the mapping of groups across different identity providers.

C). COMPLIANCE AND GOVERNANCE: This feature helps organizations meet compliance requirements by ensuring that group memberships and access controls are consistently applied across applications.

  1. SAML group mapping differs from assigning licenses to groups via Entra ID in its broader scope, flexibility, and group management capabilities. While license assignment is limited to license management, SAML group mapping enables the integration of group structures and policies between identity providers and applications, supporting identity federation, compliance, and governance use cases.
