Asana Link in Outlook Opening as New Outlook Windows

Hello!

I’m running into a strange issue–when I open an Asana link in the Outlook desktop app, the link opens an Asana window, but grouped with the Outlook windows. So it’s not opening in the Asana app or even the Asana web version.

Is there a way to make the links open in the Asana app? I do have the toggle turned on to open links in the desktop app, so I’m not sure what else to do

Any help would be appreciated

Hello,

We are noticing the same exact problem :sob: Pls help!

Thanks!

Same problem here. Settings are set to open Asana links in the desktop app, but they’re opening as Outlook popups. Annoying.

Worse, in New Outlook, the Outlook windows that pop up when I click an Asana link from an Asana email

  1. usually require a login and when I click to log in and a new Chrome tab opens and I log in, the original Outlook window doesn’t resolve to show that I’m logged in, and
  2. I can’t close or minimize the Asana’d Outlook window. I have to shut Outlook all the way down.

Did anyone have a solution on this one? Super annoying that the Asana desktop app essentially “takes over” the Outlook window and the workaround is so dumb (right click on the task bar icon and ask Outlook to open a new mail or calendar window), which still leaves this phantom Asana window open but does at least let you get back to your mail.

Yes, I find it super frustrating. I can’t even close new Outlook using the taskbar. I have to go into Task Manager and force quit. It’s making me turn off all email notifications for Asana so I don’t run the risk of doing this.

My least favorite part of this ridiculousness is that I still haven’t learned to NOT click Asana links in New Outlook - it’s a daily fail x15. Tragic.

FYI - I feel, this is more of an “New Outlook” issue. I switched back to Classic Outlook and Asana links open in web browser.

I’ve been having to force shutdowns of Outlook because of this same issue. I’ve uninstalled the Asana app and removed the Asana Outlook add-in and it’s still happening! So, my workaround is to right click on the link to open Asana and paste the link into a web browser. (I also never click an Asana link in Outlook which is a bit dysfunctional! Shocked there’s not a clear solution online to this and, also, New Outlook is the worst thing since New Coke.)
