Any way to import custom descriptions?

Hey Everyone!

I manage a project where 80% of the tasks repeat every week. In the “description” section I use the same details then, always with small adjustments. There are several dozen types of such descriptions and I end up spending quite a lot of time on this.

My question: is there any way to easily and manually import these descriptions into the “description” field?

Some solutions I’ve considered or already tried, but they aren’t optimal:

  1. Keeping the descriptions in an external document (or asking ChatGPT for them) and copying them into Asana.
  2. This isn’t ideal because I have to switch between tools and manually copy-paste the text each time.
  3. Using the “Insert” option (the plus icon).
  4. There are many elements to choose from there, but unfortunately, no way to import a custom description from a template. I’ve created task templates, but it’s not possible to import just the description.
  5. Creating tasks from an existing template.
  6. Unfortunately, I’m not the one who creates the tasks, so I can’t decide which template they are based on—so that option is off the table.

Do you know of any feature that could help make working with such repetitive tasks easier, or any plans to release something like this?

Thanks!
Lucas

Hello @Łukasz_Bachur - Welcome to our community forum!

Have you tried using our "set to repeat? feature? This will keep all the information for the task the same each time it repeats, it will just have a new due date.

You can link SharePoint and Google Drive documents to a project. They are “live” in the sense that as the document updates, then Asana can cope with it. These release notes refer: Asana Release Notes May 2025
