Advanced search does not return results even though the data exists

Briefly describe (1-2 sentences) the Bug you’re experiencing:
I’m trying to do an advanced search to find all projects that have “no value set” for the custom field named “Requester-sector” (which belong to the organization library) which only exists in our portfolios to allow us to categorize projects. Any clue?

Steps to reproduce:
1- Search
2- Add the Portfolio parameters
3- Add the custom field parameters
4- Search

Browser version:
Up to date Chrome Version 107.0.5304.110 (Build officiel) (x86_64)

Hi @FrancoisMenard

Thanks for the fantastic screenshot, really useful

I made some tests on my side and couldn’t reproduce the issue.

My first gut feeling is that the Custom Field you are using might be a similar one, but not the right one. Could it be that you have different versions of that field in your Field Library?

to test that hypothesis you can temporarily rename a field (by adding #1 for example) you’ll see right away if that’s the same field.

Hi @Arthur_BEGOU and @Bastien_Siebman

Thanks for your quick response.

As you know, the custom field must be part of the library to appear in the associated search field. I can confirm that this is the only field with this name. Besides, I get results, if I do the search by choosing a variable that’s why I think there is a bug in the search when looking for the one that has “no value set” and get no search result.

And why the graphics under the search still spinning as if Asana keep looking for results?

Thanks @FrancoisMenard for checking, then that’s probably something else.
And your screenshots keep amazing me :star_struck:

But then, if this problem is blocking you from working, I think the next logical step is to head to support.

I would advise following those steps:

  1. Access asana.com/support
  2. Select “I’m having trouble with”
  3. Scroll down to the bottom of the page and select “Let’s talk”

I would advise giving them as much detail as possible, including the screenshots.

And if you manage to sort the issue, please update this thread.

Good luck

Ps: @Rebecca_McGrath could you please confirm that the Asana Support is the way to go here :slightly_smiling_face:

We had the issue yesterday: it looked like Asana was spinning but in reality all results were displayed…

Absolutely, @Arthur_BEGOU!

@FrancoisMenard, I recommend reaching out to Support here so that they can look into this further for you
