We use project templates and project roles heavily. One problem that we have is that sometimes people who are assigned a task in a project when they have an assigned Role in that project don’t have the additional context about the task they’ve been assigned. We would like to be able to add someone (for example, the PM) as a collaborator on all tasks in a project they create from a single template. I could even do this manually if adding collaborators to tasks in a project template supported adding them based on role. Since we have a large team of PMs, I can’t preemptively assign a named user as a collaborator inside the template.
Note: Not a solution but marked as such to elevate a key reply
Until/if Asana adds this, you could consider adding a single “setup” task to the template saying something like “Add PM collaborator to all tasks” assigned to whoever usually creates the projects from template. Then, right after creation, click the first project task, shift-click the last project task, then in the footer multi-select menu click “…” > Add collaborators to add the PM collaborator to all tasks.
Don’t forget to click the title to scroll to the top and vote by clicking the purple Vote button.
Thanks,
Larry
Thanks lpb! Unfortunately I think that step will be too manual for our end users but thanks for the tip.
