One of our uses of Asana is to track the lifecycle of our serialized products from reception to sale, tracking the processes along the way. Right now this includes inspection, product photography, return to vendor, distro, and checkpoints for marketing/sales initiatives, with Rules applied to move each serial number through each stage. Currently, this is done by moving the task to either another Section or Project upon being marked complete, Rules marking the task incomplete, reassigning the task, etc while retaining all of the pertinent information in custom fields for each individual serial number.
It would be great to be able to have Rules duplicate the task once marked complete at the product photography stage, to allow the original task to keep moving throughout the rest of the process but creates a task for web listing & publishing that retains all of the information from the fields of the original task.
Right now, the process is very much step-by-step and does not allow for multiple layers of processes to happen simultaneously; there is no need to wait for our web team to create listings before we distro from our photo studio to our warehouse and brick and mortar stores, for example. We could add these as subtasks, but this does not give us clear visibility on items that still need web listings in their own project.
If anyone has a potential work around for this, that would be great, but a Rule to Duplicate Task would certainly open a lot of doors.
