This is a big hinderance in our workflow.
It seems Asana did not manage to make this half day fix in the past7 years, wonder what they are doing there…Maybe the ticket was forgotten somewhere?

Very important future foe us too
+1… for instance, you have a “lane” used internally but don’t necessarily want it included with your client when a “board” is deemed client ready. An alternative would be a capability to “archive” a lane, and retrieve it if needed at the user local level.
Being unable to hide a column is a daily annoyance. Adding the ability to hide would make my use of Asana easier and more pleasant.
My use case: I typically work from a board where I hide completed tasks. I have 4 working columns I want to display. My board shows 2 extra columns, “Done” and “Add section” that I can’t seem to get ride of. The result is 33% of my UI is taken up by empty columns. Plus, I must show these empty columns by elongating the window of my Asana app. If I don’t show the empty columns, when I open and edit a task, then close it, my window has scrolled to the right and I can no longer see the columns on the left, the ones I actively use. So I have to constantly horizontally scroll my window back to the left so I can see my active columns. Very annoying. So I instead must live with 1/3 of my Asana board being empty space.
+1 for adding a “hide column” feature.
Is it possible to know if this feature is even considered to be added?
+1, please implement this feature Asana. We have sections for backlog and up next which I really don’t want or need to see when running standups in board view. This feels like an incredibly limiting feature imo which other tools do easily.
I am a relatively new Asana user, I currently have some stuff in Trello and some in TeamGantt. The latter has a similar feature to a screenshot above, where a column can at least be collapsed, so it takes up less space.
Basically I’ve got my My Tasks set up as a personal Kanban board with a short Queue section and a bunch of different kinds of backlog and various functional columns for special cards. That takes up a lot of space, so the idea for collapsible or hideable columns would let me fold down some of the less used ones like ‘Someday/Maybe’ and ‘Blocked’ which I only need to open up occasionally and check, and then collapse them again.
In fact I would probably collapse most of my backlogs until I needed to fill my queue, which happens once every few days. That would make it a lot easier to drag stuff from one side of the board to the other.
Once we do get collapsible columns (I’ve been working on my misguided optimism), please also add ‘collapse empty columns automatically’ because that would also be helpful.
