Hi @Caroline_Ritenour, thanks for taking the time to provide this feedback!
At this time, it’s not possible to hide certain Columns in Board view. We do have an existing thread for this feature request in the #productfeedback category so I’ve gone ahead and merged your post with the existing one to consolidate feedback.
I’ll keep you posted and let you know if I have any updates

Get used to it. Asana takes forever to make the most basic changes. How could they make extra money off of adding such a basic feature? The answer is, they can’t. So they won’t.

Of course Asana can’t make extra money from adding a basic feature to an existing product. That’s true for ALL software companies, from sole proprietors and freelancers all the way up to international software mega-conglomerates. No matter their size or market share, software companies should always be adding basic features to their existing products, because if they don’t, their competitors certainly will.
Look at Microsoft, Apple, and Google, for example. They are constantly adding new features to their existing software and releasing the updates for free, because they all know that their customers will happily take their business elsewhere if their demands are ignored.

Asana is not exempt from basic market forces, and this “just get used to it” attitude is counterproductive, both as a response to a fellow user, and as feedback to Asana from a customer. You’re effectively telling Asana, “Don’t worry, I don’t care how long you take to add basic features. In fact, feel free to take as long as you want, and I will actively discourage other customers from raising concerns about the delays or comparing your product to your competitors’ products.”
+1. Would be awesome to hide/collapse a column in Board view
Provide a feature to fold certain columns within the board view. When using columns as stages in a workflow (for example software build) there can be many columns. It is much easier to read the board if columns like “Archived features” or “Backlog” stay collapsed as they don’t need to be accessed as often
Hi, I suggest making a button for convolution of the column, which the user of the board does not need.

Happy Monday @Jason_Phillips
Thank you for sharing your feedback with us and for providing the screenshots!
There is a similar thread in the Forum about this topic so I’m merging your post with it to consolidate feedback. I hope it’s OK.
Please don’t forget to add your vote!
Hi, we would like to be able to collapse cards into board view (keeping only chosen fields), in order cards to take less space so we could display more cards in a section. This would be especially usefully for completed sections as they store a lot of cards.
Ideally, we should be able to to manage what fields are viewed in the collapsed view. Title and complete/incomplete icon would be mandatory, and every other fields could be toggled on or of. This could be achieved in the list view of a project, where fields are managed.
Here is an example with:
- The default section display.
- Display that could be achieved with collapsed cards.
- And how to toggle field visibility.

Thanks for sharing your feedback with us, @anon64016490! Great request! We already have a thread on this topic so I’ve gone ahead and merged your posts with the existing request to consolidate feedback. We’ll keep the main thread updated if this is something we will plan to implement in the future.
Is anything being done about this? Seems like a pretty basic feature, which most other Kanban board systems have implemented already.

Please add a feature to hide columns in board view. My team regularly works with 2-3 columns in this view, but each column is so narrow, we can’t read much of the subtasks and have to open each tasks details, which is quite cumbersome.
Adding my vote here. I can’t imagine this would be too hard to implement.
This would be a really great feature. Also hiding the “Add Section”-Section would be nice.
+1 on this feature request- I have wished for this to myself many many times. I want to be able to focus in on a specific column and temporarily remove the rest of the noise.
