Every time I try to multi-select in asana I become incredibly frustrated - it takes so long just to get it to work and when multi-selecting a date it’s even more difficult since the calendar pops up and gets in the way of selecting. By any chance is there a way to drag and multi-select or am I using the wrong key commands?
Click the first task
Shift + Click → selects a continuous block of tasks
Ctrl + Click (Windows) or Cmd + Click (Mac) → selects tasks individually, even if they’re not next to each other
I’m a bit confused as to what you are asking. I’ll try and clarify here. The commands you are using for multi-selecting tasks are correct. I think the issue you are running into is clicking on the date field in order to multi-select. If this is correct, you can click on the blank space to the right of the task title for your first task. The Task Detail pane will appear. Just scroll to your last task and shift + click anywhere on the task and it will multi-select. Be sure to give it a second or two for the Task Detail pane to go away. Then you can update your dates by clicking in the date field.
Please let me know if this helps or if you are asking a different question.
I agree, that is a good approach to avoid the task details pane to open. Alternatively, you can also click into the text area of a task, which will also avoid opening the task details pane.
