How do I bulk assign the priority of subtasks

When I select the subtasks in a task I expect the toolbar to appear so that I can edit the multiple tasks together, as described in Samantha Kasbrick’s video How to edit multiple tasks at once in Asana. But no toolbar appears when I select the sub-tasks. I’ll attach the screenshot of what I see, no toolbar. How do I bulk edit subtasks from the My tasks area?

In addition to the video I mention in the original post, the help centre also suggest a toolbar should appear when selecting multiple tasks. What am I doing wrong? Asana Help Center

Welcome, @timregan-ts,

I’m seeing this too: it’s no longer possible, like it’s been in the past, to multi-select subtasks in the detail pane and have the multi-select task bar to appear (as it does when selecting top-level tasks).

Please try these troubleshooting steps so you can rule that out when Support asks, then please create a support ticket: see How to contact our Support Team.

@Forum-team, since this has been reported but several of us, and is a not-insignificant loss of functionality, could you please escalate?

Thanks,

Larry

Thanks @lpb

I found that if I converted the parent task to be a project (and added all the subtasks to that new project) then the multi-select taskbar appeared. It does not appear for subtasks which lie outside of any project.

I may be missing something, but that’s just the same thing; top-level tasks can be multi-selected (regardless of how they became so) but not subtasks.

Hey there,

I just confirmed on my end you are still able to Multi-Select multiple subtasks at once by selecting them and using either CTRL+CLICK or CMND+CLICK to select the ones you’ve clicked or via standard file selection rules like SHIFT+CLICK being able to select all tasks in between the selected tasks.

Do note you need to click on the little 6 dot arrangement on the far left side of the subtask in order to select it and not open the subtask detail panel.

I’m now thinking I may have misremembered this. Maybe it was never the case that the multi-select toolbar appeared, and just that you could multi-select and operate directly on the fields shown and nothing more, as it is currently.

Hi @timregan-ts , I believe the multi-select action bar appears when you expand a task to select the subtasks in the List view (not the task details pane). You can also click into any field to bulk update them.
