Currently in order to bulk convert sub-tasks to become main-tasks, you have to navigate into the main task to first select then drag/drop the existing sub-tasks. This was experienced using the Asana App but I have verified it works the same on the browser version.
It would be much more intuitive and significantly faster and less prone to human error if you could bulk select the sub-tasks on the main list view screen and simply drag/drop from there.
Would it be possible to accommodate this into the roadmap ?

Thanks Ian, I’ve experienced this problem and a solution would be welcomed
While it’s not exactly the same mechanism you’re talking about, you can bulk select tasks in the main list view, then just add them to them to the project you want them to be “tasks” in by:
- Option A. Setting the Project field in the list field. Setting it for one will set it for all the same way most other batch operations work.
- Option B. Using the keyboard shortcut
Tab
P
to prompt the Projects option to appear in the multi-select toolbar. It automatically focuses the “Add to projects” button so all you have to do is hit enter, start typing in the project name, then click enter again once the proper project is selected.
- Option C. Same as above, but using your mouse to click the “Edit project or section” icon in the multi-select toolbar.
Note: This promotes the subtasks to parent tasks in the project you add them to but they simultaneously remain subtasks under their original parent task. If you’re wanting to bulk convert them so they are only parent tasks, then you’re right, you have to take the approach you mentioned where you drag and drop them from the sidepane into a section.
