Whole timeline isn't moving out in Timeline view

Hello - when I move the first task out in the Timeline view of one particular project, the full Timeline is not moving out with it. This is a first, never seen this happen. I wonder if there is an issue with the template, but have no idea how to fix.

In the timeline view, dependent task due dates do not adjust when the due date of the task they are dependent on is adjusted.

@Brian_Hahn and @Courtney_Hicks - not sure if your issues are directly tied to this, but Asana did just release some enhancements to dependencies (allow auto-shifting in most/all? views, only shift downstream dependencies when using “maintain buffer”). One of the knock-on effects is that if you are using “maintain buffer”, you can’t adjust a whole chain by moving the end date/other downstream tasks; you have to adjust the earliest task you want moved. Option to shift upstream dependencies

Same issue here. Have struggled with this since the change rolled out last week, and it’s a big hassle that we can no longer shift a date and have upstream subtask dates shift. Major step backwards on usability. I appreciate that it prompts for dependent task date shifts automatically—that’s a win. Hi @Rachel_Roush and @lpb, sorry for the confusion. This specific change hasn’t been publicly announced or updated in our Help Center yet, but I can certainly share more details.

We’ve made some updates to auto-shifting behavior to make timeline management smoother and more consistent across views . These changes aim to address feedback from our community and reduce the need for manual adjustments when managing dependencies:

If “Maintain buffer” is enabled, only the tasks downstream from the edited task will shift, instead of the entire chain.

Auto-shifting will now trigger when due dates are updated in any project view, including:

• List view
• Board view
• Calendar view
• Task pane (within a project context)

Date changes will now automatically reflect in the auto-shifting modal—no need to enter them again!

That said, we’ve collected feedback from users and our PMs are currently working on some additional improvements. A new option will be added to the project dependencies settings, allowing users to choose whether they want to shift all tasks or only downstream tasks. This update doesn’t have an ETA defined yet, but it should happen in the short-term.
