Our implementation leader showed a demo of this and recommended the timeline view as the easiest way to make sure all due dates get adjusted at the same time, but the function isn’t working on my end even though all tasks show dependencies. I’ve also tried to use the list view instead, but it only shows the dependent task when the current due date is selected instead of giving a preview of the updated due dates when I select a future due date as it should.
This is critical for my team as all of our projects are agile and require adjusting deadlines regularly.
Did you check the settings under “options” for this project. Date shifting strategy has to be enabled.
Can you tell me where to find this option? I don’t see it anywhere.
I checked that before I posted in the forum and it’s still not working.
Can you post some more screenshots detailing what’s not working in the Timeline? Thanks! (It might be a case where it just doesn’t operate like you’re expecting, or could be a product issue, but we’ll need more info to be able to see if we can tell.)
Okay so after some more testing and analyzing the project template, it seems like the timeline adjustments work properly when I am adjusting the due date for a parent task that has a due date range, but not when I am adjusting one that has one value of days for the due date (aka the project milestones) even though all of the tasks are dependent on one another. I hope I’m clearly explaining that.
Can you post a screenshot showing the milestone and the dependents, and then one showing after you’ve adjusted the milestone (before and after, so to speak)? It should be adjusting in that scenario same as for the other one you mention.
Phil, thanks again for all of your help with this. Although Asana shows an active dependency, when I move the “Initial copy draft ready for review” task, the dependent task “Upload proof using Ziflow” does not move. However, when I move the “Ziflow Review” task that has a due date range, the dependent milestone “Initial design draft ready for review” does adjust. (2nd and 3rd screenshots have to be sent separately)
