When a section is duplicated into a new project, it seems that all tasks’ custom field values are erased, even if the fields are global and exist in both projects.
The temporary workaround is to duplicate the section into the originating project and then move all tasks to the target project, but that sort of defeats the purpose of duplicating to the new project in the first place.
