⬆ What you gain by upgrading to Asana Enterprise from Advanced (similar to legacy Business)

If you are under the impression that the Asana Enterprise tiers are just for large organizations that require more security, think again!

Indeed, the legacy ‘Enterprise’ tier (now called ‘Enterprise+’) and the newly introduced ‘Enterprise’ tier unlock many security features within Asana’s Admin console, but over the past year, Asana has added numerous key features to the Enterprise tier, providing better control over standardization, consistency and scalability of your Asana system.

What you may not know is that the new ‘Enterprise’ tier is considerably less expensive than the legacy ‘Enterprise’ tier, leaving the (also new) ‘Enterprise+’ tier as the most expensive and obviously most comprehensive tier. So, if you are currently on the legacy ‘Business’ tier or the equivalent new ‘Advanced’ tier, this may be your time to consider upgrading to the new entry-level ‘Enterprise’.

For more information on Enterprise pricing, feel free to DM me or book a call with me using the link in my bio. Alternatively, feel free to contact Asana Sales.

So if you are unclear on what you will gain by upgrading to ‘Enterprise’ from ‘Advanced’ or legacy ‘Business’, here goes:

:infinity: Work without limits

1. Unlimited users compared to 500 users in Starter & Advanced; note, the legacy Business tier does not have these limits, while it lasts.

2. Unlimited Portfolios and Rules compared to 20 portfolios and 25k monthly actions for Advanced; note, legacy Business does not have these limits, while it lasts.

3. Unlimited AI actions compared to (up to) 1,500 actions per month for Advanced; legacy Business does not have these limits but is limited to only Smart summaries, Smart editor & Smart fields.

4. Integrate Asana with Salesforce, Tableau, and Power BI: currently available to legacy Business and legacy Enterprise tiers, but will eventually be exclusive to the new Enterprise and Enterprise+ tiers only.

:star2: Key features

5. Bundles: probably the most important key feature exclusive to Enterprise tiers, allowing you to update existing projects with custom fields, rules, sections and task templates with one click. Where project templates end, Bundles begin, driving standardization and consistency throughout - very powerful!

6. Goal types and templates: like task template but for Goals, helping you to standardize how Goals are setup in your organization.

7. Reporting > Universal Workload: similar to Portfolio’s Workload tab but, instead, for anyone/everyone in your organization.

8. Reporting > Capacity Planning: the missing piece of the puzzle to Workload, allowing you to plan and forecast the capacity of each member allocated to a project over time.

9. Endorsed Teams: mark teams that are officially recommended for users to join. You will also be able to filter by endorsed (or not endorsed) in the Admin Console’s Teams tab, which is helpful for managing them or exporting their list to a CSV.

:level_slider: More control over permissions

10. Additional project permissions: more control over which user roles (only Project admins or Editors too) can make changes/edits to projects (including anything in the customize menu, and the changing the project colour/icon) and also who can actually share the project and manage project memberships.

11. Additional team membership permissions: in the Team’s Advanced settings > Membership permissions, you will be able to choose who will be able to approve members to a team (either only Team admins or also team members). Additionally, you will also be able to control whether invited members or guests must be approved by a team admin and also control whether only team admins can remove them.

:art: Customization & Branding

12. Customize your project’s icon: use a square PNG or JPEG for your project’s icon; especially useful to apply your own brand or use it for logo of your clients, stakeholders, partners.

13. Custom branding: customize your Asana with your own brand’s logo which will show up for all users next to their profile photo in the upper right corner. Optionally, it can also be added to the header of your forms.

14. Customized Onboarding: welcome new users your way (including/excluding guests) by choosing and customizing what they see when they are first invited to your Asana space (including your logo, welcome message and background image/colour, and which team they initially land in and even get them started with your own customized onboarding project.

15. Admin announcements: allows Asana admins to send org-wide announcements which will show up for every user, in a banner along the top of the screen, until they dismiss it. Replace company-wide emails for good!

:closed_lock_with_key: More admin controls & security

16. SAML authentication: increase security by adding your custom SSO solution as a requirement for all users logging into Asana.

17. Mandatory two-factor authentication: applicable for those who do not log in with Google SSO or SAML, either optional or required for all members and guests.

18. Profile field editability controls: lock the role/job title and team/department fields in member’s profiles so that members cannot edit them.

19. Admin Security Controls: get complete security controls, such as controlling who can invite guests or if guests can invite others, set trusted Domains for guests, set the default setting for a team’s privacy and read-only link sharing permissions.

20. Mobile App Management: control and secure corporate data using App Protection Policies deployed via MDM/MAM solutions.

21. Service Accounts: enable Asana super admins to have complete access to all data in their organization and export it through the Asana API, allowing for more powerful reporting options and building automations and integrations more easily.

22. Better support and SLA: 24/7 support, 2 Hour Response Time SLA, 99.9% Uptime SLA and weekend Support for Complex Data Migrations.

:rocket: Go beyond with Enterprise+

Beyond the above, the below features are what you will additionally get with Asana’s most comprehensive tier, Enterprise+ :

  1. Choice of data residency/location: by default, your data is stored in the US but Asana offers global data residency options with data centers in Europe, Australia and Japan so you have more control over where your data is stored. This option can also be selected as an add-on to the new Enterprise tier (above).
  2. Data Loss Prevention: add the ability to regularly scan your Asana instances for data that affects or violates your organization-wide policies.
  3. Export domain: request to get an export of all your data as a JSON file, with the option to include attachments.
  4. Audit Suite: API and Integration Support: includes Audit Log API, eDiscovery integration with Exterro and Hanzo, archiving integration with Theta Lake, Cloud Access Security Broker (CASB) integration with Netskope and SIEM integration with Splunk.
  5. App Management: provides organization super admins the ability to monitor and control the apps, personal access tokens (PATs) and service accounts that are active in their domain.
  6. Project sharing settings: lock whether anyone or no one can share projects within your organization.
  7. File attachment options: control which file attachment types should be used in your organization.
  8. Forms access permissions: set who can access the forms within the entire domain.
  9. Video recording permissions: ability to disable video recordings using the Vimeo integration.
  10. Mobile app permissions: includes Biometric Authentication, Widget permissions, Attachment permissions, Screen capture permissions (Android only) & copy and paste permissions.

Great, thorough, nicely organized post, @Richard_Sather!

I think there are a couple more points to add:

  • Service accounts (they’re mentioned in app management for monitoring, but the feature itself is only available to Enterprise/+) and worth calling out.
  • 24/7 support
  • 2 Hour Response Time SLA
  • 99.9% Uptime SLA
  • Weekend Support for Complex Data Migrations

Thanks,

Larry
