What happens to a task which has been created in My Tasks, if i remove the assignee?

Hi, i’m new to Asana but i’m already finding it fits my needs really well. I’m using it for more like personal productivity, as my organisation doesn’t (yet) use it.
As a result, i’m not in a team on Asana, and i’m the only assignee.

In order to manage tasks which don’t need my attention yet, and that can’t be adequately scheduled, i;ve been removing the assignee (me) so that they are unassigned.

In my scheduled reviews of open tasks (which i typically do by manually reviewing task lists by project), 1 category is then anything which is unassigned that i can pick up and put back on my radar. However, i’ve noticed that if i create a task in My Tasks and then decide to “backlog” it by removing the assignee, it sort of disappears into the ether.

I can use a saved search for unassigned tasks but it made me wonder what happens to these tasks? Do they exist anywhere i can see them?

It might be a feature request to have a defined place for “lost” tasks like this.

Thanks!

Welcome, @Ämblik,

Yes, the become a little untethered, but they don’t disappear.

If they’re unassigned and not in a project, then the only way to find them is with Search box > Advanced search (which requires a paid plan):

If you want, you can search in the Forum in Product Feedback for a request to vote on, or add your own if you don’t find one.

Thanks,

Larry
