I’d like to beta test this feature as well!
Our team is starting to use Asana and this will determine if we use it or not.

Oh gosh, how is this not a feature already - when it was suggested 7 years ago…
I can’t believe they still haven’t fixed this. Realizing this post was created almost eight years ago. The only hack I’ve been able to figure out is by marking the task as complete and then it populates on the next recuring date. Then I just mark each one as incomplete. What a pain!
This feature is super important for our social media calendar and being able to see everything that is scheduled in the future.
I just spent 2 hours trying to work out what I did wrong on setting the recurring option and going back and forward to the calendar, refreshing, going to someone else computer! Asana is directly responsible for me losing a good portion of my sanity with it not showing a recurring task in the calendar correctly!
I feel like a fool that I told my team to ditch the yearly planner and move to Asana to track tasks only for it have this stupid option that you have to complete a task before the next one shows up. I want to be able to see who in my team are completing the task and who isn’t. I can’t see how this can be done if I can only see one at a time.
I’m just here to re-re-reiterate everyone else from the last 7 years. Please make this a feature.
Yeah this is honestly mind-boggling that it hasn’t been added yet. I understand the ‘why’ of not wanting to clutter up the future with tasks, but I also feel like maybe that wouldn’t be a terrible thing? I want a tool like this to help me not over and over commit. Having recurring tasks actually show up in the future helps me see what I’ve already committed to doing and thus helps me not over commit.
Please Asana gods, I beg you
Agree with every other person on this thread. We need an option to have reoccurring tasks appear on the calendar. For me, my reoccurring tasks are meetings and therefore I am not available at that time. My calendar should reflect this. I hope that enough of these comments will spur some action.
I left my other project management system because it didn’t have a recurring calendar view either. This is really frustrating that it isn’t a basic feature.
Need this feature!!!
Almost 8 years since this question was originally asked and still no native implementation of this feature is crazy.
+12 from my entire team. No idea how difficult this is from a dev perspective, but it seems like a must. While building out a content calendar we have many repeating daily, weekly, and monthly tasks. Management needs to be able to see those all laid out ahead of time. The work around using multiple instances as “monthly” recurring is really not sustainable with the number of posts we have to track across properties.
I wish I could vote for this over and over again. This would make the use of google calendars and asana calendar feel way more useful.
I just wish we all weren’t being ignored.
It would be useful to be able to display recurring tasks (e.g. meetings every Wednesday) in a calendar view.
However, it’s confusing when displayed as is, so I’d like the display to have a bit more character. Currently, completed tasks are displayed in gray, but how about arranging it a bit to “gray out + Italic type”?
It would also be good to have the following settings for future recurring tasks.
-You can choose to show or hide them in the settings (so you can choose to show or hide completed tasks)
-Click to jump to the original currently active task
It was suggested to visit this page since it was already created, however, the original post was in 2017 and I see no valid response from Asana on progress or implementation. Is there any update that could be provided from the support team?
No, Asana doesn’t publish a public roadmap, so we can’t know what features might be coming and when.
This is so frustrating! My team and I just purchased Asana and now we find out that this simple feature isn’t available?? Wow I can’t believe it!
I would like to test this!
Just face the reality - it will never be addressed because it would require probably a rewrite of a good portion of the app (and they don’t want to do this) or breaking another element that is more crucial for Asana than that (e.g. card visibility across projects or something similar).
I’d say a good workaround is to use primarily Asana and copy there meetings from the Calendar (using Zapier for example) - yes, I know, no possibility to timeblock and protect your focus then since people inviting you to useless meetings see you mostly as available in this scenario, but I think in general Asana is extremely bad for timeblocking. It’s just how the tool is - and it will stay like that forever.
