Visibility of all Recurring tasks

I’m guessing this hasn’t been resolved? It’s probably a deal breaker for my business if this isn’t something that will be resolved in the very near furture.

The issue was mentioned in 2017. I am still having it now in 2024… Such a shame it wasn’t addressed, Repeated event is a must for me and my workflow and seems like a basic feature of any calendar.

Very surprised to learn this hasn’t been addressed. It’s a core functionality for any calendar and essential for long-term planning. I’m hoping the team can prioritize this.

Just adding my voice! Please revise this, Asana. I recommend your product to others but might have to stop doing so. It’s an embarrassing oversight. I can’t hold all of my recurring tasks in my mind, thus the need for a calendar.

Hi there!
Here to say it would reeeally be useful to have this functionality in Asana!

Hey ASANA, this is a major gap here. I want to see on the calendar that I have a weekly meeting on the calendar veiw before the task is complete. Can you give an estimated date of completion? it is the one element of this program I HATE and want fixed.

This was first posted in 2017, with a lot of replies. How has Asana not looked at this and fixed this issue? I was just about to suggest Asana to my boss for our business, but if this functionality isn’t available STILL, then I won’t bother. I’ll find another app.

Adding my voice to the many hoping to see this change. This is a needed feature! Seems like such a simple option we should be able to turn on when creating a recurring task.

Hello, we also need this feature since many years. is there other software out there which can do that in workload ?

Hi everyone. This issue has been something that users of our Google Calendar integration have been facing for a while now. Our calendar integration displays all of your tasks on your Google Calendar for simple time blocking. It does not work well if you have a repeating task daily @ 10AM but Asana does not create the next task until you complete the previous.

We have come up with a solution I thought I would share here as well. We have implemented a utility that will continue generating tasks for you up to a number of days in the future. So if you have a daily standup, you can ask our tool to generate tasks for 30 days, or perhaps 15 and our system will ensure there are always tasks created that number of days out. This allows your task list to remain clean and not include an indefinite number of tasks, but still allows you to schedule without ignoring repeating tasks. Here is a screenshot of how this is embedded in Asana.

Here is an animation showing it in action:

We are looking for a few beta testers at the moment. If you are experiencing issues with this and would like to try it, please message me. You can send me a direct message through this forum so we do not take away from the native functionality discussion.

While this is helpful, being able to schedule 6 months in advance MINIMUM is what my team needs, especially when it’s a weekly occurrence that several people are involved on. We run weekly coaching calls, with different hosts and topics. I need a way to put this in Asana. Right now we are losing a google sheet and it’s not ideal because there are no reminders, etc. in there. Can we not set the days out based on our own needs?

It may not be apparent from my screenshot / animation, but yes, you can select the number of days out to generate tasks for. You can do this on a task by task basis to determine what works best for your team.

Hi, I’d be interested in testing this, or do I need to be a pro member?

People have been asking for this for years. It’s pretty ridiculous that this hasn’t been addressed.

This tool will work with all tiers of Asana.

Hi Maggie, I messaged you. Interested

Hi Maggie, could you message me? Interesting in your tool. Thank you :)!

I would like to be included in this beta. How or when can I be added? Can we roll this beta to our Asana team of roughly 20 people.

I like to test this feature, too. Unfortunately I don’t know howto message you directly

I would also like to trial this feature. I’ve only just realised how flawed my workload plans are so this is high on my critical list.
