View historical user activity

It’s incredible that this still doesn’t exist after 6 years of people asking. For a high “traffic” tool like Asana a history of user actions is basic functionality. Please add this.

See “We have been asking for this feature for years; why isn’t it available?” in this post.

That’s not to deflect from the actual request here BTW; I voted for this one!

Hi Phil,

I appreciate that - I work in software and know the tradeoff between user wishes and product strategy/developer resources. This is very much a basic feature though that a project management tool should have. That’s not to say there aren’t “frivolous” requests that Asana should “deprioritise”.

Are there any updates on this feature?

Bump. Please implement this.

My next search after posting this is to research the migration process from asana to other tools. This is a really basic feature and your community has been begging for it for years now. The lack of communication or action is a strong case to migrate to a different product.

So I want to say thanks to the Asana team for making some small progress on the way to this working… My little hack to see what people have biled on any given day is to create a lollipop graph in a portfolio with ALL projects, x axis by day showing actual time entries… AND NOW the graph days are actually clickable so I can drill down into any tasks someone’s entered time on for a particular day.

Graph settings:

Unfortunately there’s one critical bug making these less than perfect, but it’s close!!!

For more detail than just daily reporting, we ended up dumping all the time entries via the API and creating a pivot table to work out who was doing what, when, in what project.

Are there still any updates on this feature?

I’d really love to know why there are a bunch of features with <180 votes being constantly being developers and pushed our while features like this with over 200 votes languish for 7 years. I really want to support people on my team who forget to fill their time sheets to easily look back at what they were doing, as well as inform my clients about activity on their projects when people forget to change fields and only leave comments on things… it’s really ludicrous that a pm system doesn’t support this critical functionaly or that a product management team would prioritize features with relatively low demand over one as highly requested as this one. I feel we made a mistake in choosing asana…

Updated the status to Considered! We’ve committed to doing UX research and design this half to better understand the scope of this feature. We’ve heard you all loud and clear :folded_hands:

I like it!

I think something went wrong tagging the topic considered though.

It should be updated now, thanks @Jan-Rienk!

Monday.com has this feature. Not sure why Asana can’t catch up.

Has there been any movement on this topic? I need to be able to report on my work completed at the end of every week, and this is a basic feature required to do that. I don’t want to have to track my progress manually, having to click into every single task.

Agreed! Would love to see this feature + know if it’s in an upcoming rollout.

My primary reason for doing so is to share/report on my activity with management. I am a 1-person department in a company that doesn’t use Asana (nor interested in looking at it). Basic export is okay, but I need to share my full activity to save myself time. Currently dumping screenshots into AI to create this data, as a workaround. :grimacing:
