As an admin (and super admin) on our Asana account, I frequently receive requests from team members seeking help with locating or editing items within the platform. However, the interface and settings I see as an admin often differ from what regular members see, making it difficult to provide accurate guidance.
Currently, I need to schedule a screen-sharing session with the user to view their setup and troubleshoot effectively. This process is time-consuming and not always feasible.
It would be extremely helpful to have a feature that allows admins to “impersonate” a team member’s account. This would enable us to view their homepage, projects, tasks, and settings exactly as they see them—without needing to involve the user directly. Such a feature would streamline support, improve troubleshooting efficiency, and enhance overall administrative capabilities.
@Alex_Morgante - if you go to the link in Emily’s post that Larry referenced, it gives full instructions, but basically you go to the admin console and there’s an option near the buttom of the left nav to launch in work access mode.
Thanks @lpb but the user impersonation feature was a secondary request within my post (I probably should have broken them out separately and/or not conflated them). Beyond user impersonation, there is a need for what I termed an “ultra admin” or expanded capabilities within the existing super admin permission. An admin shouldn’t have to find the right user to impersonate to be able to find or edit any object in the system. Major shortcoming of Asana at the moment.
Can you unmerge my post and I can edit it to remove the reference to the user impersonation?
