I have created templates that automatically assign due dates for subtasks relative to the date the task was created.
This works well, but if we need to change the overall due date of the milestone, the due dates of the subtasks are also out of whack.
I am trying to create a rule that would update the due dates of the subtasks when the milestone is changed, but don’t seem to be able to connect the two.
Has anyone else been successful in doing this?
You can’t do that with rules (though maybe with AI Studio rules, and certainly with Scripts and code if on Enterprise).
But that’s a feature of Dependencies and Date Shifting with them, which are described in Asana’s Help.

@Stephanie_Piper As @lpb says, you can do this using dependencies without needing to use rules. FYI you can also do it without needing dependencies using the Auto-adjust Workflow in our Flowsana integration if you want it to work on all tasks in a project, or via a Flowsana rule if you just want it to apply to Milestone tasks.
