Understanding the Asana pricing

True but does that work when you work in a Division? For example at your company do you have free teams?

Sorry. I wasnā€™t explicit. Yes, I was speaking about my actual experience. There are many free teams that exist on our domain that are not part of my division license. The division just being a collection of hand-picked teams to include within the license. All unique members across the teams in the division take up a license seat. If you have members that are part of teams that are in the division but also those that are on a free plan, they only have access to the features available within that specific team.

Does that answer your question?

Teams in a division are ALL on the paid plan associated with the division. None can be free. HOWEVER there is nothing stopping a single, group or all members that are associated with the division to be part of a free team that isnā€™t mapped to the division. The division is simply a means to license a sub-group within an organization but puts no restrictions on where free teams can exist.

Nowā€¦ if you are asking if a team within a division can be downgraded to FREE (thus remove access to any paid features) but not have the limitation of only 15 members that comes with a free planā€¦ no, that isnā€™t possible.

That was the missing piece, thanks.

I would spend more time reading on posts about how to use asana so I can use it to make money, than learning how to avoid paying for additional seat I donā€™t need at this moment but I will very soon.

Still VERY confusing for a new user on a free plan with 4 members (including myself), even after reading it all and reading the attached links and articles.

QUESTION 1:
Organization Membership is defined by the company email domain. All others will join your Organization as Guests.

I opened my account under my domain and my email is my domainā€™s email, so I assume I am an organization. In contrary to what it says above, my 4 members are listed as members (not guests) even though they have nothing to do with my domain and each one uses their personal email (Gmail, Yahoo, etc) so can you explain why they are called members and not guests?

QUESTION 2:
As Iā€™m growing the company, time after time I consider purchasing the premium plan but donā€™t because I still canā€™t figure out what ā€œper seatā€ means. I am willing to pay $10.99 per month but definitely not $43.96 (if ā€œper seatā€ means the monthly price times the number of members)

So my question is if I only pay $10.99 and say I then add custom fields (not available in the free version), does this mean that the other three members will not be able to see these custom fields?

And if so, would that be the case if they were guests or members? And if so, can I convert a guest to a member and visa versa so they have access to custom fields even if Iā€™m only paying $10.99? Bottom line, is there a way to pay only $10.99 and have the entire team be able to continue working on tasks as they are now, and also benefit from premium features that I add such as custom fields?

I believe @Emily_Roman can help clarify the situation, and the support could access your account for any specific questions.

$13.49 is the price per member if you pay each month. $10.99 is the price per member, *12 per year if you pay anualy.

In an organisation, you canā€™t promote a guest to member, unless you gave them a company email address. However guests will be able to interact with custom fields. You canā€™t have a member with a company email without paying for them, unless you upgrade only one team, and not the entire org, and that member is not a member of the team. @Emily_Roman will be able to clarify, to be honest that part is still a bit blurry to what actually shows up on the screen in that case.

@Zvi_Twersky I recommend you contacting to our support team as they can have a closer look at your account and give you a tailored answer here. They can also advise what would be the best plan for your team depending on the number of members you wish to upgrade.

You are right, @Bastien_Siebman. If a user has an email address linked to the Organization, you cannot change their access to Guests. In regards to your question about pricing, you can also confirm our current prices at asana.com/pricing.

Thanks, Iā€™ll contact support about this.

I actually do not need to upgrade my team, as they donā€™t have company emails. Iā€™m just curious why I donā€™t see the word ā€œguestā€ anywhere - they are all called ā€œmembersā€ in my team settings (on my free plan). I just need to make sure that when I purchase an annual plan and add premium features such as custom fields, that my team will be able to see and interact with the custom fields.

@Zvi_Twersky, you can find more information about what Guests can access and how to identify them in your Organization in this article.

So for the free account is the user limit 15 users total for the lifetime of the account? Or does it limit up to 15 users at a time? Meaning if I reach 15 users can I delete one to add another or no?

Hi @Tiera_Gray, the limit for free Organizations/Workspaces is up to 15 users at a time!

Re: Asana Enterprise Licenses do they come with Tech. Support? If so, can you explain how it works? Do the Enterprise Licenses come with the ability to speak to or chat with live Tech. Support Agents? Any information you could provide regarding available Tech. Support would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

I am not sure it does for all Enterprise, thatā€™s why Asana has Solution Partners (like us http://ido-clarity.com) to provide this kind of support. Iā€™ll let @Marie and @Emily_Roman provide more context.

Hi @Bastien_Siebman - this is slightly off-topic (as it relates to Enterprise packages, not to our pricing system) and Iā€™m afraid Emily and I are not the best person to answer these questions.

@Simone_Pickett I would recommend reaching out directly to our support team (How to contact our Support Team āœ‰) who will be in a better place to assist you with this question

Itā€™s not clear still the following:

  • If I upgrade to the Premium will my 15 free users work as they used to work in free mode? Or Iā€™ll have to pay for each, considering each of them as seat?

This is a rough one and quite misleading. The website doesnā€™t say anything about this. You pay more than advertised (by quite a bit) if you have anything other than multiples of 5 real users.

Itā€™s a clear and blatant scheme for overcharging. There is no technical reason why pricing is grouped in multiple of 5. Iā€™ve asked them multiple times to charge me for ACTUAL number of users in my account (6) and theyā€™ve ignored me.

That depends on whether or not they will be a guest or a full member, based on their email address and your company domain name.

Hi! I am the head of a department at a private school, and I have been using Asana for just over a year to manage all of my work, meetings, lesson plans, etc.

Next year, however, I will have two TAs. I would love for them to have access to one project, but it is important that they cannot see any other projects. I currently just have a free workspace.

I played around with making all of the projects private except the one they will need. That worked alright, but I noticed that they could add projects to my personal workspace! That isnā€™t great, considering the amount of data I have saved on here! I also would love for them to have ā€œcomment onlyā€ access, rather than the ability to edit.

I have been reading in forums and in the help section, but I am unclear on which plan would be best for this. I am happy to pay monthly, since having them on here will make things much easier for me, but it seems like I could maybe switch to an organization and then include them as guestsā€“would that then still allow me to have a free account? Again, I am totally fine with paying for this, but it seems a bit odd to have to pay for 3 members if 2 of them will only be using a very, very small amount of the account.

Thank you!

Elizabeth
