Unfortunately I cannot delete this section - no sorts, no filters - just a section with 113 complete and incomplete tasks. I want to remove all sections.
Thoughts?

I already had the issue, and I was able to finally delete it. I donât remember my exact hack, I believe I went to Board, created another column, deleted them from thereâŠ
If you invite me as a guest I could try to do itâŠ
Iâll catch major heat if I invite someone, there, ha! My challenge is trying to delete all the sections. Itâs seems to want to âkeepâ one.
And, if I add another section and then delete the original - Asana moves all the tasks to the newly created section. I just want to go back to âno sectionsâ for this project. Donât understand what the hurdle is
I am 99% sure you can, just donât remember the stepsâŠ
I just tested this and I was able to delete the last section once I moved the tasks out of the section.
So I bulk-moved the tasks out of the section and then it worked to delete the last section left.
No section left but tasks still in the project
Hi @Joe6
As @Andrea_Mayer wrote: I was able to delete the last section once I moved the tasks out of the section.
If the section contains tasks and you try to delete it, then you have the option to either delete the tasks as well or move them to another section. So,try creating a new section before deleting it.
Also, I donât think you can have a âno sectionsâ empty project. There should be at least one section. Please, anyone⊠feel free to correct me if Iâm wrong!
Hope that helps.
Elina.
Thanks Elina - but, new projects donât have sections? Thatâs the goal (no sections).
In either case, I created a new project, moved the tasks, and deleted the original, so going to mar this down for now. Thanks for the input, however!
Hi @Joe6 ,
I might not have explained things well⊠However, Iâm glad you found a solution!
I believe it depends on which view you work (List, Board, Timeline etc) and maybe thatâs what confuses you.
When you have a new project and the âUntitled Sectionâ is there by default, youâll be able to see it under the Board view. However, if this is the only section, then on the List view you will find only and all your tasks.
Hope itâs clearer now
Best,
Elina.
Thanks Elina!
The hack that @Bastien_Siebman mentions is to create a task in List view, and then drag and drop it above that pesky section that canât be deleted.
Once you do that, Asana will recreate the default âUntitled sectionâ (as it always appears in the Board view, but NOT in List view) allowing you to delete that pesky section.
