Trying to find the creation source of a task (and end it)

I got a message from a coworker recently asking about a task which gets created every quarter. The task is created automatically, and was set up by someone no longer with the company, whose Asana profile was removed from our enterprise account several months ago.

We’re confident it’s not being created by any external API call because the user wouldn’t have access to those permissions. We’ve been trying to search through the Asana documentation for any kind of internal process in Asana which could be used to basically say “every 3 months, create a task saying to do this specific thing, and assign it to this specific employee”, but we haven’t found any sort of user interface like that.

Where might this task be generated from, and how can we modify the process?

Open one of these tasks in the task detail pane. Scroll down until you see the Comments and All activity tabs. Click the latter. Below, read the audit trail, from the start, and click to open any hidden info.
