Time tracking only for tasks in a project and not for tasks in "My tasks"??

I can no longer start a timer for tasks that are not in a project. I thought this was possible before… is this a bug, intended behaviour, an update …

Can someone help?

Experiencing this as well; and have had the same issue in the not too distant past (say a few months ago).

Tasks assigned to me exclusively (i.e. not part of any other project) are mysteriously unable to track using the native ‘Actual time’ function in tasks. It is asking to assign it to a project to track actual time:

This was working just fine when I logged off yesterday.

I’m also experiencing this, and very much hoping it’s just a bug and not a permanent change :frowning:

Have any of you reported this? I think that would help: Please create a support ticket: see How to contact our Support Team.

cc’ing @Forum-team in case you can escalate or have any additional info.

Thanks,

Larry

I received the following reply which I find a bit odd because yesterday this was working.

In order to use the time currently, the task must be associated with a project. Apologies for any trouble there.

At the moment there aren’t any changes for this planned in the near term, but I will note your request to make sure it gets to our Product team. Understanding use cases like this is really important to us, and we track all user feedback in order to improve the product.

Odd that this feature was removed without notice.

This is related to the fact that time entries now have a project dropdown to pick which project to attribute that to. They probably realised the impact described above, and took a shortcut by disabling all together on stand alone tasks (for now?)

Ah? I do not see that dropdown. Where exactly would that be?

Here’s how it looks

OK - I can not see that. The projects column is not there.

I’m having the same issue. I use time tracking in My Tasks all the time, and I’m super bummed this functionality was removed. I’ll submit a support ticket as well, even though it seems like this isn’t a bug.

I also don’t see the drop down for tasks that are in multiple projects, like @Bastien_Siebman’s screenshot above.

Hi again! I also submitted a support ticket and received confirmation that this was an intentional change from the Product team. Max from the Asana Support team also recommended I share product feedback in the forum, so I created this post.

Please vote for this feature request if you would also like to have time tracking added back to My Tasks. :ballot_box:
