Anyone else having issues with actual time function?

Happy Monday!

I was wondering if anyone else has been having trouble adding actual time (either manually or using the timer) to tasks or subtasks lately.

I’ve set up collaborative projects with actual time tracking active and visible as a field in the List view of these projects. However, since about a week, one of my colleagues has been unable to add actual time directly inside the task/subtask tab, when that task/subtask was open. It’s only been possible by clicking on the actual time field in the project’s list view, which adds unnecessary navigation steps: the person will open that task anyway to e.g. review content and add a comment, but then have to collapse it again to add actual time. Or worse, go into the task to comment, then collapse the task, open the subtasks, and then add actual time there.

We tried adding “actual time rollup” to that colleague’s “my tasks” projects to try and solve the issue, but it’s persisted. So far, I’ve not heard of similar troubles from other teammates.

Does anyone have suggestions on how to approach this? Is this a pilot test of a new view?

Thank you for flagging this issue. I can imagine this would not be an ideal experience.

Can I ask you to try a couple of troubleshooting steps:

  1. Try removing and re-adding the Actual time field to the project to refresh the field mapping.

  2. Since this seems to affect just one colleague, have them try an incognito window, another browser, or temporarily disable extensions. Also ask if they can edit other custom fields in the task pane. That helps us rule out permissions or a browser glitch.

Thank you very much for your reply and your troubleshooting advice!

It seems that issue has affected other team members in the meantime, in a different way but always coming down to the actual time function not working in certain tasks and projects. We are looking into it with our contact person from Asana and if the issue persists, I’ll make sure to reach out to the support team using the link you shared.
