Templates: Pre Determined Assignee's not triggering rules

Context: We don’t use the “My Task” feature in Asana because it has limitations with rules and automations. So each person on my team has a personal task board where all of their tasks land from every project they have tasks on.

I have pre determined who my assignees will be on each of my tasks in the Template, I have built the rules to say when Task is created or when Assignee is, Check if its this assignee, add to additional project.

But because Asana does not register this as a new task, or that the assignee wasn’t assigned the rules don’t fire. There is no work around except a manual push rule (why would I create automated workflows if they aren’t auto…)

Request: All rules should trigger if you can build them in the template

Hi @Jessica_Borelli1 , yes that’s expected. Rules in project templates don’t fire upon project creation unless tasks are premulti-homed into projects that contain existing rules which will fire if conditions are met.

As an easy fix, has each user tried creating a rule in their My tasks to simply add all tasks added, to their personal tasks project as well?

That rule would also work as a ‘catch all’, making sure it adds all assigned tasks from anywhere in Asana, not just projects created from templates.
