Hello, I have teams where members all have editable access, yet when they go to update a goal 1) they show as “commenter” and relatedly (I’m assuming) 2) the “Update” button does not show on the Goal detail page. Can someone please help me? Thank you!!
Have you checked the share settings of the goal itself? Sounds like perhaps the team has its access level for that specific goal(s) set as commenter, which is fully separate from their membership level within the team itself.
Thank you, Stephen,
When I look at the goal, it has the team as “editor.” What am I missing? Thanks so much for your help!
Cindy
Strange, I simulated this scenario in my environment (public goal with universal comment access, shared with a public team as editors) and for me, users in that team could update/edit the goal as expected.
In your OP, I assume that point 1 means that when they to the goal, they get the grayed out “Comment-only” button near the share settings? Can you confirm that happens for all 5 members of that team?
A client notified me today of something that sounds the same–folks who should be editors don’t have the Update button to post a Status update and can only comment, unexpectedly.
I haven’t seen this in person, but this is starting to sound like a bug because it would be an odd coincidence.
@Forum-team, in case you want to escalate.
I won’t meet with the client until Thursday at the earliest.
Thanks,
Larry
Hi everyone, thanks for tagging us, and sorry for the trouble!
I couldn’t replicate this on my end either… I checked with our team, and this doesn’t seem to be a widespread issue.
Since it’s permission-related, it would be necessary to check the affected users’ accounts and permissions in order to dig into the problem further, and this is something that only our Support team can do.
Please kindly have the impacted users reach out to Support and they will be able to further assist. To speed things up, I recommend including a screenshot of the goal settings page and the URL of the goal in question.
@Cindy_Outlaw, if you are an admin reaching out on behalf of your colleagues, please include their email addresses in your message, so Support can check their individual permissions.
I hope this helps!
Whoops, @Cindy_Outlaw works at my client’s organization!
We just met and there were two issues:
- Commenter vs Editor access solved some cases, and
- The UI is confusing because folks were looking for an “Update” button/menu
and some see this instead of that button/menu
Does anyone understand when you see one vs the other, and why show such different UIs for the same thing? Note that neither of the above two goals have ever had a status report even the the first one calls that out and not the second one.
Thanks,
Larry
