Context: i just joined the company, no one has experience with asana. The entire set up might be incorrect from the core.
I am trying to create a task template along with all its subtasks, pre-filled text, and custom fields that can be populated across all the projects, as all clients have the same work flow.
But i found that creating a task type and template will not work.
My Steps Taken:
Created a Master Task Template: Built a Task Template containing required subtasks, custom field selections, and description text inside a central project.
Multi-Homed to Existing Projects.
Now allllll the projects will have that same task.
And if i add the new task type created to the new project, the task template with pre filled info is not carried over.
That was so fruastrating.
I found a work arround:
Converted Tasks to Local Templates: Manually clicked Convert to template on each newly generated task inside every individual client board.
Severed Multi-Homing Links: Manually opened Customize \rightarrow Task types and templates \rightarrow Templates in every single client project and manually deleted the extra projects from the Projects section. This was necessary to prevent tasks created from the template in Client A’s board from automatically appearing on Client B’s board.
While this manual process successfully created isolated, standardized Task Templates across all client projects, it was extremely time-consuming and repetitive. Furthermore, updating this template in the future will require repeating this process or editing dozens of project templates manually.
Feature Request: Please consider adding the ability to deploy and manage global, workspace-level Task Templates across multiple existing projects without forcing multi homing.
ClickUp can do that, why cant you?
