Task still showing up in main list even though I made it sub task of another item on that list

Hello,

I moved a task to be a sub task of another but it is still showing up on my main list as well.

after a test, if I delete that task in the main list it deletes it in the sub task as well. Any fix for this?

@Jason_Lucarelli - this is a little counter-intuitive, but what you have to do is remove that blocked out project from the subtask. If you hover over the project that you’ve obfuscated, a little X should appear. Click that and you should see that this only lives on as a subtask.

The Reason
Tasks are associated with projects, whereas subtasks are, by default, only associated with their parent task. You can add subtasks directly to projects, where they will show up as a top-level task. That’s basically what’s happening here; you are converting a task that is already associated with a project to a subtask but Asana is not removing the direct association between the (now sub)-task and project.

I think this is a very confusing element of converting tasks to subtasks, and I feel like it used to automatically disassociate from all projects when converting to a subtask previously (not sure about it, though).
