Is is possible to add the Task Status as a Column?
I’ve just discovered you can alter the terminology of the Status field, but want to see the full status name, rather than just see the Icon and first letter to the left of the name.
@Andrew_Desmond Just to clarify, it seems there are two questions here.
Yes, the Task Status can be added as a column to any project. To adjust the width of the column, hover of the line to the right of the column name. Your cursor will change to a double arrow. Click and drag to reset the width of your column. Be sure to click Save view after you have the width where you want (I still forget to do this sometimes!).
I’m wondering by “Task Status” you’re describing what Asana calls a Custom Task Type, which allow you to specify a set of Statuses it can take on, some Active Statues, some Done Statues? Your description makes me think so. If so, then no, you can only see the first character, or an emoji if you use that, unless you use the Group option to group by this custom task type, then groupings will appear with the full Status name showing. You can always see the full names at the top of the Task Detail Pane for the currently selected task only.
Arggg! This is what I was fearing. As our business transitions over to Asana, i’m finding there are all these weird restrictions on the platform which limit people ability to customise it to suit their way of working.
I’ve made a work around. This involves creating a Custom Column which has the selections, then a Rule that updates the Statuses.
I can’t for the life of me figure out why Asana wants to restrict the ability to access some of the default fields in the list view (i.e. the Start Date field - it would be great to view that as a separate column…)
