Subtask Management View Controls

Hi Asana Community!

I’m excited to introduce Subtask Management View Controls, a new suite of tools in the Task Pane designed to help you cut through the clutter and focus on the work that matters most. We launched this update in May but if you haven’t seen it, here is a quick overview.

Here’s what’s new:

  • “Hide Completed” Toggle: One click to declutter. Hide completed subtasks from your view and keep the focus on what’s still in play.

  • “Assigned to me” Filter: Working on a task with a big team? Instantly filter down to just the subtasks assigned to you so you can stay in flow.

  • Smart Sorting: Reorder subtasks by Due Date or Assignee to see exactly what needs attention next.

  • Clearer Context Menus: Right-clicking a subtask now shows explicit labels like “Duplicate subtask” or “Delete subtask,” so you always know exactly what action you’re taking.

  • Persistent Progress Tracking: Even with completed subtasks hidden, you’ll still see the full count (e.g., “3/10”) so you always know the true health of a task.

  • Sticky Preferences: Your applied filters and sort orders persist across browser sessions. Your workspace stays exactly how you left it.

Whether you’re a project manager tracking health across a complex initiative or an individual contributor trying to zero in on your own assignments, these controls were built with you in mind.

As always, feel free to share your thoughts and feedback in the comments, we’d love to hear how these new controls change the way you manage your most complex tasks!

This is great - big fan of this update! As a suggestion to build on this further, it would be helpful to have access to additional sorting options within the subtask list in the task detail pane, such as sort by start date, or assignee.
