Sub-Task Synchronization Automation

Good Afternoon, I have recently been exploring the external action Sync sub-tasks. I understand this is a recent development. I was hoping that someone had some insight into why the subtasks are duplicating themselves. I have restricted all rules to the basic (Image attached).

I don’t want to see row 2 or 3. I would like to keep these nested in the parent task.

The rule is to run on tasks only and is getting triggered by the section the subtask is in. So I am a bit stuck on how to prevent this from happening. Thank you!

Hi @Montana_Tallentire,

That external action is provided by Project Procs, so you’ll need to contact them for details on how their action is working.

However, what you’re seeing is a standard behavior of Asana subtasks: subtasks are not by default attached to the project of their parent task, but if you do attach a subtask to that project, it displays in the list view twice - once as a subtask and again as if it’s a top-level task.

To avoid having those extra displays (row 2 and 3), you’ll need to detach those subtasks from the project. Alternately, what some people do is make a section of the project called something like “Subtasks - Ignore”, move the extra displayed subtask into that section, and keep the section closed. (The “out of sight, out of mind” approach, so to speak.)

@Montana_Tallentire,

Also, may I move this topic out of this private category so 800k+ others can benefit from it?

Thanks,

Larry
