I have a rule where when assigning a subtask to an individual it adds it to another project. However what I am finding is that it duplicates the subtask into the individuals section again. Which makes it messy. Is there a way to prevent this from happening.
Hi @Montana_Tallentire ,
It appears there is a rule that is adding subtasks being added to the project the parent task is in.
Subtasks - technically - arent part of the parent task project. So adding them to the project makes them appear twice.
More on how subtasks work can be found here:
Does that solve your issue?
Thank for your response. How do I stop the subtasks being added to the project of the parent task?
- open a task and create a subtask
- check the left bottom of the screen to see any toaster notifications signifying any rules that start running
- find the rule under customise, and adjust or delete it so that it no longer adds the subtasks to the project.
- add another subtask to verify it worked, if not repeat
If that doesnât solve it something else is going on.
Hi @Montana_Tallentire , to add to @Jan-Rienk 's useful instructions, it may help to look for the action âCreate subtasksâ within your rule. Open the action and edit the subtask, and remove the project under the add to project field within the subtask.
Hope that helps, too!
I think it would be great to convert a subtask to a task in the rules once an individual is assigned. Currently all I can see is Convert task to project but not the option to convert subtask to Task.
Thanks for the feedback, @Montana_Tallentire! We actually have a feedback thread dedicated to converting subtasks to tasks. Although itâs not specifically focused on rules, implementing this feature could potentially enable conversion via rules as well. Iâd recommend adding your vote to that thread
