Student Discount Approved via Goodstack, but Workspace Not Upgraded — Now Locked Out After Trial

Hi everyone,

I wanted to share an issue I’ve been facing and see if anyone else has experienced something similar or found a solution.

I applied for the Asana student discount through Goodstack and received approval successfully. However, instead of my workspace being upgraded to the Starter plan as expected, Asana initiated a 14-day free trial.

After the trial ended, my workspace reverted and now several of my projects are locked behind the paywall — and the student discount was never activated in the first place.

I’ve already tried reaching out to Asana support via email, but the responses haven’t been helpful so far. Goodstack also mentioned that they only handle the approval process and cannot assist with activation or troubleshooting on Asana’s side.

At this point, I’m stuck:

  • Approved for the student discount :white_check_mark:

  • Workspace never upgraded :cross_mark:

  • Trial expired and projects locked :cross_mark:

  • No clear support or resolution :cross_mark:

Has anyone else run into this issue? Is there a way to manually apply the student discount after approval, or escalate this to someone who can actually fix it?

Any guidance would be really appreciated — I currently can’t access important parts of my projects because of this.

Thanks in advance.

Welcome, @Aekansh, and very sorry.

I recommend that you also try Asana Sales (though they were backed up as of other recent reports, I’m afraid).

@Forum-team, Since this person is locked out could you help?

Thanks,

Larry

Welcome, @Aekansh. I’m sorry you’re dealing with this.

Here are the steps to help fix:

  1. Contact our Support team here: https://help.asana.com/s/article/how-do-i-get-support-from-asana?language=en_US
  2. In your message, ask to attach your approved student discount to the correct space and restore access
  3. Include:
  4. Your Goodstack approval email or code
  5. The exact workspace or organization name and URL where you need the discount applied
  6. The Asana account email you use
  7. Any trial or invoice IDs you see
  8. A screenshot of your Billing page if you can access it

I will also flag this on our team, but if you’re open to it, drop your support ticket number in the thread so we can keep an eye on it. :folded_hands:t2:
